Christian Carter brings over 17 years of laboratory safety and compliance expertise, working alongside industry professionals, contractors, executives, administrators, staff, and students. Her extensive experience spans various types of laboratory environments, where she managed lab operations, was an active member of multiple safety committees, oversaw hazardous waste quality control, handled engineering unit operations, and ensured safety and compliance in both teaching and research labs. She holds numerous certifications and has received extensive safety training, equipping her to develop, enhance, and implement engineering safety practices tailored specifically to Tandon.

Her deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks—spanning local, state, and federal levels—has made her an invaluable asset to Tandon, particularly in optimizing operational procedures while aligning with NYU's safety policies. Christian also plays a key role in capital projects planning, ensuring that safety and compliance considerations are integrated into the design and execution of new lab and facility projects. As Tandon’s Designated Safety Coordinator (DSC), Christian leads and supports the laboratory safety program, overseeing safety training, compliance, emergency management, inspections, and updates for all labs, shops, and core facilities. Her ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels enables her to improve safety strategies that align with Tandon’s long-term research goals. Her primary focus is on fostering collaboration across engineering, central management, and the Dean's office to continuously improve and enforce safety and compliance standards.
