Nicholas DiZinno

Nicholas DiZinno earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He then worked extensively in industries as varied as aerospace, product design and manufacturing, vehicle engineering and emissions reduction. While working for MTA New York City Transit, he returned to graduate school part-time at the (then) Polytechnic University. Upon earning his Master’s, he entered the PhD program at Poly, and joined the faculty of Queensborough Community College. After earning his doctorate, Professor DiZinno joined the faculty of SUNY Maritime College. He was an adjunct faculty member at Poly, and then NYU Tandon, from 2008-2018. In 2018, he joined NYU Tandon full-time as an Industry Associate Professor. Promoted to Industry Professor in 2022, Professor DiZinno teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and has mentored several VIP’s and other student groups. Professor DiZinno is active in the Long Island section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and holds a New York State Professional Engineers license.

Classes Professor DiZinno has taught include: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Senior Design I, Senior Design II, Statics, Computer Aided Design, Applied Mathematics in Mechanical Engineering, Viscous Flow & Boundary Layers, Compressible Flow (undergraduate and graduate), Computational Fluid Dynamics. He serves on several committees and is involved with departmental scheduling and assessment.
