Jabril Bensedrine, Associate Industry Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, brings 25+ years of international professional experience as a consultant, advisor, entrepreneur/business owner, and faculty. His work is mostly at the intersection of innovation and new product development, strategic planning and marketing strategy, corporate entrepreneurship, and international business development.
As an entrepreneur, Jabril Bensedrine is the founder of the technology business development firm The Triana Group where he has supported dozens of companies ranging in size from pre-seed startups to $20 Billion in revenue, across industries and stages: technology-transfer, high-growth venture-funded, healthy companies as well as distressed ones, both independent, corporate-owned, and private-equity owned. His work as a consultant has exposed him to fascinating technologies and sectors such as, but not limited to: Hardware, such as sensors and IOT, lasers and infrared, new materials, and industrial equipment; Industry 4.0. & lean manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, TPM, etc.); Software, ranging from AI and AR to cloud-native ERP; Healthcare technologies and life sciences.
Jabril Bensedrine holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from ESSEC and has completed his Post-Doc at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. The International Association for Strategic Management along with the FNEGE Foundation for Research and Teaching in Management awarded him their 1998 Best Dissertation Award. His past work with Prof. David Vogel at U.C. Berkeley received support from the German Marshall Fund of the United States (Washington, DC), the FNEGE Foundation, and the France-Berkeley Fund. He also received several Merit Scholarships from the European Commission (notably, EUSSIRF and EDAMBA.)
Jabril Bensedrine has presented his work within organizations and conferences ranging from the World Trade Organization to IndustryWeek's Manufacturing & Technology Show, the MEDICEN life sciences acceleration program, the European Commission’s EPRISE Photonics program, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Spark Startup Program, the Taiwan Startup Stadium, INSEAD, the Academy of Management, and the Strategic Management Society. His work was also shared in individual or collective articles and book chapters by publishers such as Edward Elgar, Revue Française de Gestion, Oxford University Press, John Wiley & Sons.
Education
Jabril Bensedrine holds both a Doctorate and a PhD in Business Strategy from AACSB-accredited Essec Business School. He is the recipient of the AIMS International Best Dissertation Award. He completed his Post-Doctoral work in strategy at the Haas School of Business, U.C. Berkeley. He received multiple grants for technology transfer feasibility studies and new technology market assessment, as well as grants from the France-Berkeley Fund, the European Commission's EUSSIRF scholarship, the European Commission EDAMBA scholarship. His individual and co-authored papers were published by Edward Elgar, Revue Francaise de Gestion, Oxford University Press, John Wiley & Sons. He has presented in international conferences including at the European Science Foundation, the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society. He is now a regular speaker for organizations as diverse as the Taiwan Startup Stadium and the World Trade Organization. Jabril Bensedrine is a board member for ESSEC and U.C. Berkeley Haas Alumni, and was the Founding Chair of the FACC NY Technology & Entrepreneurship Committee.
