How urban wildfires spread
Assistant Professor Augustin Guibaud discussed the wildfires in Los Angeles that have destroyed 2,000 structures, forced 130,000 evacuations, and killed five people. The Pacific Palisades neighborhood was completely destroyed, with residents facing gridlocked evacuation routes. Guibaud explains how urban wildfires spread and emphasizes climate change's role: "We cannot live in a world where... at any moment you would need to evacuate. Regardless of the level of preparation... it poses a more fundamental question of how do we protect our homes?"
