Battle for safe and legal basement apartments
With hurricane season here, thousands of NYC residents in areas vulnerable to floods wonder what’s in store for them. The city has partnered with NYU Tandon for its initiative Floodnet, a network of solar-powered ultrasonic flood detectors, to help combat this problem. “The NYC Emergency Management, with this data, might have a better understanding of where flooding is happening in real time,” explained Assistant Professor Andrea Silverman, co-developer of Floodnet.
